About

A*Forge is an engineering studio based in Ireland. The work covers sensors and telemetry, the pipelines that carry the readings, the services built on top of them, and the servers and networks all of it runs on.

Building something and operating it are different skills, and the second one is where most systems quietly fail. We do both, so the design decisions get made by the people who will be answering for them at three in the morning.

The name holds two ideas. A* is the search that finds the path as it goes: you rarely know the whole route at the start, so you work it out step by step and keep moving. The forge is where the result is made robust and resilient, so it holds up once it is in use. A* is also a wildcard, which means everything. Put together: finding a robust solution to everything.
